Originally issued as the b-side to the folksy Dylan-esque single “NOW OR NEVER” and culled from her landmark 1973 double album APPROXIMATELY INFINITE UNIVERSE, the song embodies an offbeat pop/rock sound laced with bop, big-band swing, and razor-sharp feminist rock overtones. If “NOW OR NEVER” was a wistful wake-up call to a tuned-out, slacked-off America, “MOVE ON FAST” grabbed them by the scruff to shake them out of their collective stupor and shout “burn it at both ends” and “live for today.” It was a strident, rebellious and political statement from the avant-garde matriarch and would foreshadow the rise of the punk movement that was still years down the road!
“MOVE ON FAST” was remarkably reworked into a dancefloor anthem (and ONO’s eighth chart-topping Billboard Club Play hit) by some of dance music’s most capable and talented producers.
